Franco-Holland's Army in the East Indies (1806-1811)

Daendels with his retinue in the building of the Great Post Road across Java

I have managed to collect various sources regarding the army of the kingdom of Holland in the east indies (modern day Indonesia). Although the Dutch East Indies is now under French rule, daendels who was the field marshal of the kingdom of Holland was sent to Java to become the governor General, a major military reform Occurred in 1808 by Governor General daendels, he managed to raise an army of 19.000 men, of which 17.774 were consisted of natives and the rest 2.430 were europeans.

It is important to note that the natives were forced to enlist in the ranks, resulting of their bad performance in the battlefield, desertions is very common among the men, and it is unlikely that these men would stand strong after the british's first volley.

Uniform

There is almost no record of the regimental uniforms that daendels raised, though the Württembergisches Kapregiment had a kaskett helmet and a dark blue coatees with a yellow facings. The 12e Bataillon was described to have the same uniform as the Régiment d'Île-de-France which was dark blue coatees with red facings and a white lapel. However the Prangwedanan Legion/Mangkunegaran Legion was described of having a black coatees with a shako, long tailcoats for officers, short tailcoats for the rank and file.
